6 Easy Steps to Shadow Striping
Are you bored with the look of your walls and you would like to get a truly elegant finish? You looked at monochromatic, complementary, analogous, and triad color scheme options and your selected your monochromatic palette of colors. The striped tone-on-tone painting technique is one of the simplest ways to achieve a designer look to any room.
Steps to Shadow Striping
- Paint wall with flat latex and let it dry for 24 hours
- Mask trim and ceiling edge with masking tape
- Mark wall with chalk – make sure the lines are vertical by using a level
- Apply painters’ tape on the wall – align the tape with the marks and erase marks once tape is in place
- Paint strips between the tape using high-gloss latex paint – use a brush or a roller
- Remove tape before latex is dry to prevent its bonding to the wall
